Second Skin

Actual Display:

Process:

Medium:
Shoe box, photo paper, wine bottle, gross mixture (elmer's glue, flour, water, paper with writing, tissue paper)

This piece is meant to be disgusting and disturbing. I used a wine bottle in order to convey that it is about over-indulgences, including alcohol but not just alcohol. I thought that an alcohol bottle would be interesting because I could use play with the shape a bit, but it’s important to note that it doesn’t have to be just about alcohol.

Another thing to note is that the weird paper mache mixture is made up of ripped up pieces of paper with negative thoughts written on them. I didn’t want the thoughts to be very readable because I intend them to be very jumbled and all at once.

This piece is pretty personal which is why I used my own face on the bottle. One could say it’s even a self-portrait in a way.
