So this is the painting I'm making for my intermediate painting final so far. I like it but I feel like the part around the neck got a bit muddy so I'm going to have to redo that. Plus I'm not sure if I'm 100% satisfied with the face yet. I guess I just gotta keep work at it.I hate how people keep telling me they like the background because it's not going to stay like that... Like I agree that it's pretty but it's a little too pretty for this painting. I just think it doesn't really accentuate my content at all and it's honestly just distracting.
Maybe I'll make the background dark purple because I put some around the face to shape it and it really seemed to help bring out the figure. I think the reason it went a bit wrong is I went with what my teacher said more than my gut which is honestly just a recipe for disaster. I honestly think that's what went wrong with my last painting and I legit don't even want to finish it. I mean teachers are helpful but I gotta trust my gut! In my BFA review they said I need to try more interesting compositions but like... I don't know composition is something I've never really felt was all that important. I mean it is but I'd rather have an interesting subject that's rendered really well. Maybe that's just me though. I guess what I mean to say is that my gut has gotten me this far
and I've gotta trust it!
Wow okay that was a pain in the ass to fix all the text sheesh and now I feel kinda like the text should be long enough to get to the end of the pictures? Maybe it will once it's actually on the blog. Whatever I'm rambling now.
