Renaissance Painting Recreation Process

Original Painting:

First I drew the woman with prisma colored pencils. As I was drawing her decided that I honestly just didn't feel like drawing the blanket she's leaning on, so instead I drew a skull. This is sort of how the creepy elements were born. Then as I was drawing and adding details to her, I also decided to give her some armpit hair. I thought it was interesting because when this painting was originally created I'm pretty sure women weren't shaving yet, so the fact that she doesn't have armpit hair in the original either means that the artist was being lazy or just wasn't thinking about it I guess. But anyways, since I added armpit hair I decided to turn it into sort of a feminist piece where I explore the ideas of femininity. And thus my piece was born.
